The Readers League
This reading comprehension digs deep. The Readers League brings children together, every week, to read fiction and non-fiction works, discuss what they've read, and then write about it.
What Happens in Readers League?
Each week, readers come together to read, think, discuss, and write.
Read Together
Everyone reads the same selected book.
Discuss
Talk about characters, events, ideas, and meaning.
Ask Questions
Ask and answer thoughtful questions about the reading.
Build Comprehension
Strengthen understanding of what is being read.
Write
Put thoughts and responses about the reading into writing.
Share Ideas
Encourage one another while sharing ideas.
Reading For Thinking
Understanding communicated thoughts (whether written or spoken) is foundational to a child developing their own thoughts and expressing their own ideas and opinions. This is the stuff lifelong learning is made of.
